images (22)Twitter lately unfurled a new custom-timeline feature with TweetDeck which enables users to collect tweets and put them together in defined groups and categories within social-media dashboard. Not only will Tweekdeck enables the users to try hands at new creative groupings but also will allow them to collect various tweets related to an event into one single story. The innovative groups can include a series of humorous tweets that users desire to share with their friends and other known people. Though the feature will be rolled out in next few days one must know how to build one’s twitter custom timeline. Let’s take a quick look:

1)                  Sign into TweekDeck and search for the “+” button which is on the left-hand side of the main home screen. Click on “+” button to add new column. A new display window will appear with numerous column options out of which “Custom Timeline” is placed at the very bottom. Click on “Custom Timeline”.

2)                  As soon as you click on “Custom Timeline” button, you will be directed to a screen where you can edit existing custom deadlines or even dole out a new twitter custom timeline by clicking on button “Create Custom Timeline” placed in the upper left-hand corner. Click that button.

3)                  You’ll see a new and blank timeline as its column in TweekDeck in front of you. You can name it and can easily add a description to it at this time. The only difference being instead of 140 character tweet you will get 160 character long timeline descriptions.

download (18)4)                  Having added a description it is time that you populate your timeline. This can be done in multiple ways. First being dragging a tweet from one of the Tweetdeck columns into the new twitter custom timeline. Each time you drag a tweet, there will be a small icon in the lower right-hand corner which looks quite similar to some directional arrows crossing.  You can use these arrows to click and drag your tweets into your twitter custom timeline.

5)                  Even you can also add tweets by pressing the “more” icon on some user’s tweet placed within TweetDeck which results in a drop-down menu containing one of the options as “ Add to custom timeline”.

6)                  Once you custom timeline is sufficiently stuffed, you can proceed with sharing the same with your friends and successfully embed them into a blog or story or news post or some other platform.

7)                  After that click on the small icon just right to your custom timeline’s title. The drop-down menu will appear. Click on “share” button. You can even select to embed a post and view it later on Twitter.com or tweet regarding it for that matter. In order to embed the post click on “Embed Timeline”.

8)                  This will take you to a new window where you can edit or make small changes to your custom timeline. For instance, colors of links and background for tweets can be changed. Once everything is done as per your choice click on “Create Widget”. Few code lines will appear below in your custom timelines. Copy and paste this code into your blog post.

Finally your custom timeline is ready.
